Bill Coleman

 

Bill Coleman is an independent musician and visual artist from Cobh, Co. Cork. In the last ten years Bill has toured internationally and recorded and released three albums both under his own name and that of his musical alter ego, Glitch Cassidy.  Always interested in the intertwinings of technology and art, Bill enrolled in MMT in order to learn new skills, broaden his horizons and expand his artistic palate; basically to learn new ways of making art out of things. One of these ‘things’ is computer code, an area to which Bill was first introduced to at the beginning of the course. His final project involves the design and implementation, using the Processing language and MAX/MSP, of a synthesis instrument inspired by Iannis Xenakis’ UPIC system, which uses graphical input to synthesise sound. Users will therefore draw lines to form structures which can then be heard on playback.
