Niamh Corcoran

Niamh Corcoran is an Irish multimedia artist and experimental music maker. She received fifteen years training in classical violin and piano, eventually growing more interested in new approaches. In 2009, she completed a BA in English Lit. and Film Studies at Trinity College Dublin, specialising in cinematic representations of the Irish Travelling community. In 2009, she began writing and recording under the name Angkorwat, with her track 'Big/Little Edie' appearing on the Wire magazine's Wire Tapper compilation. She released Early E.P. in 2010 to critical acclaim, and has since toured internationally, supporting Panda Bear, Dan Deacon, Deerhunter and Hype Williams live. New material will appear on the Wire magazine's Below the Radar compilation in autumn 2015.

Inspired by Robert Ashley's multimedia operas, Issho Kenmai is a web-based digital narrative based on the diaries of the late Maura O'Halloran, a Dubliner who became known in Japan as Zen Buddhist saint 'Soshin'. The piece incorporates core interests including nonlinear storytelling, new media art and social transgression.
